KIDS GAMES has been a great success this week with around 25 kids attending each day and a wonderful team of helpers.

A full program of activities saw all participants engaged and having a great time.

On Christmas Day a special    offering will be collected to support the work of Baptist World Aid.

Envelopes were in last week’s bulletin and we invite you to support this valuable work.

After months of seeking a new pastor, the church with the pastoral serach team lead by Elder Murray Pyle, is excited and pleased to announce the appointment of Mr John Gallagher to the posisiton of Paster. John and his wife, Shauna and their two youngest children will move to Coolum at the start of 2012 for John to take up the appointment in February.

We hope everyone will be able to join us at Lions Park for a day of fun, all the traditional games will be there to enjoy!  The lolly shirt will be making a brief appearance too!   BYO Meat and Drinks.  The Sunday School team will be suppling salads and a treat for each kid attending!  Please pray for fine weather overcast is good but just no rain

Sunday 3rd  October - there is an open invitation to meet after the service at Tickle Park for a BYO lunch/swim/games etc. We will meet near the kids  playground, look for the blue gazebo. Tickle Park was chosen because of the playground & proximity to food & life guards.

A special organ recital will be held at City Tabernacle Baptist Church in central Brisbane on Sat 9th Oct 7.30pm. This is a fund-raiser for the restoration of the organ which is 100 years old & listed with the National Trust. Restoration needs $150,000. All welcome.

A Call for 30 More Days of Prayer
(24th Aug - 21 September)

This is a passionate plea for Christians across Australia to join hearts together in prayer for 3 specific prayers, 3 times a day for 30 days that God will give wisdom & direction to know His will for the election of God`s appointed leaders to govern our nation.

1. For God`s People to Humble Themselves and Pray

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

2. For God`s Wisdom and Will to Be Revealed

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord`s will is. Ephesians 5:15-17

3. For God`s Government to Be Clearly Elected

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live
peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:1-3

A new secure section of the web site is being developed for the church family. This section, which will require a user name and login, will contain a plethora of valuable information. There will be extra news and data claimers (including birthdays) only viewable by the church family. Important church information like the constitution will also be available. The new "MyChurch" web site will be a way the church family can share with one another, with the ability to share prayer needs and praise points. The web design team and the web master are hard at work and hope to have a beta release within the next few weeks.

Saturdary May 29 is National Day of Thanksgiving.

The National Day of Thanksgiving gives Australians the opportunity to celebrate and give thanks for our God given heritage as a nation, and to thank one another for the contributions each makes in our communities. The uniqueness of the National Day of Thanksgiving is that it gives every congregation a way to creatively reconnect with their community. Many Churches across Australia have grasped the concept with outstanding results, and are now effectively re-connecting and engaging with their community to the benefit of all.
It is a Christian based initiative, endorsed by Government and supported by numerous community groups, that provides the Church in Australia with the opportunity to give leadership drawing local communities together to celebrate those values that bind us together as a nation.

“The Holy Spirit—God on the inside” 2010 convention is on the week 10-15 May. Sunday 9th May is a Day of prayer and thanksgiving in our churches (James Baker will be speaking here that day). Then follows a week of Conference & special speakers. Rev Nigel Wright is the keynote speaker on Thurs & Fri nights at Reedy Creek church—there is an interesting article about him in the latest QB magazine. There are also some great Saturday seminars—check the QB magazine for full details and Registration Form. This is the time when representatives from Qld Baptist churches all over the state come together to share & learn—and anyone can be a part of it. Have you ever attended one of the evening meetings or a seminar?

The Coolum Vietnam Support Group is planning another trip to Vietnam this year. Read their Newsletter. Also read their Mission Report for 2009.

Reach the Beach is held on Easter Sunday at Tickle Park in the middle of Coolum. The day begins with a dawn service followed by a combined churches  Resurrection Service. Family fun activities including face painting for the kids; barbeque lunch; and Monster Skate Board competition. We need many volunteers to help share the load so if you can help please see Jane. This is our major community outreach for the year so get on board!

250 Baptist churches in Chile have been destroyed in the earthquake. Pastors & church members are living in tents & stories of distress & faith are filtering out. Baptist World Aid is assisting, if you wish to help go to ABWAid website.

Anzac Day is Sunday 25th April and once again we have agreed to help the RSL provide breakfast for those who come for the 5am Dawn Service. We need a  team of about 10 people to come and help serve. If you are able to help please see Jane.

David & Lynda have written to all who support them financially, to say thankyou for that support—in the weeks since Will & Cherily caught up with them in Hong Kong, David has been extremely ill and had to be evacuated to get world-class medical attention. This was only possible because part of their support goes to SOS International— an insurer who covered David for this evacuation at no further cost. Our financial support of GiA missionaries is extremely important, and they say a heartfelt thankyou.

This year there will be 1 event for ladies each month, starting with Glory to Glory on Mon 22nd Feb 7pm at the church. March will be at the Coffee Club, April morning tea. Details to  come. CAMP is booked for 9-11 July, for your diary. See Rose P for info.

Volunteer Knitters! Annette & Anneli have a very simple pattern to knit dolls to donate to Matt & Uli to take to Vietnam. The Sunday School will be giving the dolls identities.

If you are around 35yrs or over and would like to get to know others better, have fun nights out or have a place to take your friends, our social group is for you.  Now meeting on the second Saturday of the month. First social event of the year kicks off on Saturday 14th February.

Constitution abstract

The Coolum Vietnam Support Project is an aid project with a difference, as:

we pay our own way: flights, accommodation, taxi, the lot;
we personally deliver and disburse all funds collected - i.e. we oversee the construction and building of the houses;
we (Matt and Uli) personally contribute to our charity and visit the Peace Orphanage on a daily basis;
we meet with local charity organisations (UNESCO) and select projects;
we pay medical expenses to help children / people to get a better quality of life;
we report progress from Vietnam on our blog http://www.coolvnsupp09.blogspot.com/
we write a final report when we get back - see attachment;
we do AVOID admin charges and commissions.
